How much would it cost to replace my deck boards with composite?
Replacing all of the wood deck boards on your existing deck (assuming the frame is worthy of a remodel) with one of our quality composite deck boards will range from $30 per square foot up to $40 per square foot based on complexity and which deck board you choose.
What all is included? This service often referred to as our "Top deck replacement" includes removing all of the old decking, inspection of the frame, adding additional framing and flashing, adding protective tape as appropriate, securing the decking with hidden fasteners, clean up and haul away. It's really quite a deal and a very practical solution if you have rotting, split, splintery or otherwise old beat up wood deck boards. You will never need to paint or stain the floor again and the little ones will have splinter-free feet!
What about railing replacement? How much does that cost?
Railings are tricky because there is a very wide range of options and materials. We install everything from full stainless steel cable systems, all the way down to basic pressure treated pine railings. The cost can range from $65 per lineal foot up to $250 per foot. Additionally, if we are remodeling/ versus building new, the cost can range because the layout affects how much railing material is needed, how many support posts and how many sections and the waste factor involved. Often times, if a customer is considering a high end rail option and is at the same time considering a remodel versus a new deck, this choice can push the project over the edge towards the new deck simply because the existing deck doesn't "lay out" well for the new high-end railing system.
What is the cost difference to remodel my deck versus just build a new deck?
This is an excellent question and we've been working on this answer for many years.
On average you will spend approximately 35%-50% more building a new deck simply because there are many more planning and logistical steps involved. We believe in practical solutions which means that if we believe (after a thorough inspection of your existing deck) that the framework is "worthy" of a remodel, we will offer you that option. This usually includes all new low-maintenance decking, low-maintenance railings, trim and newly framed stairs. Keep in mind not all decks are worthy of a remodel and we'll quickly tell you that in our initial consultation. In that case, we will plan for a brand new, well built deck that lasts and suits your needs for the future.
Our utmost goal is to give you real value and quality that will last. If a new deck is that solution, then lets have fun and design something that you REALLY like!
